Bonhams

Bonhams will have their usual auction slot at the Goodwood Revival meeting this Saturday. There is a strong selection of cars with the top slot taken by the Ex-Scuderia Ferrari, Hans Ruesch, Dick Seaman, Dennis Poore Donington Grand Prix and RAC Hill-Climb Championship-winning 1935-36 ALFA ROMEO 8C-35 Grand Prix Racing Monoposto which comes with an estimate of £5.5m-£6.5m.

For the Lamborghini enthusiasts there is one of only seven right hand drive 1972 Lamborghini Miura SV Coupés which was first delivered to Rod Stewart. There is also a good range of bubble cars with conservative estimates and several at no reserve. Given the current demand for bubble cars the quoted estimates may well be broken with ease. A car that is still looking undervalued at present is the Aston Martin DBS Vantage and there is a very original car available at present with an estimate of £40-£50,000; we wonder how long it will be before you have to pay north of 100k for such an example.

For the pre war enthusiasts there is an excellent mix of cars with several Invicta's including the ex-Works, Irish Tourist Trophy, Brooklands 'Double Twelve', George Field, Dudley Froy 1931 Invicta 4½-Litre S-Type 'Low Chassis' Sports which comes with an estimate of £900,000 to £1.2m. For those with a smaller budget take a look at the Riley Imp which is a great looking little pre war sports tourer and still reasonably affordable in the current market; this one comes with an estimate of £70,000-£90,000.

Having seen a low mileage Jaguar XK150S go for north of 300k this week at RM's auction we wonder what the Jaguar 3.8 litre flat floor roadster will achieve on Saturday given that it has only 32,000 miles on the clock and has single family ownership from new. The estimate is £120,000-£140,000 but we could easily see a new record given recent trends for the early E-Types.
