Anglia Car Auctions

Anglia Car Auctions latest sale did not throw up too many surprises with a steady sale rate and still lots of spirited bidding. Perhaps the biggest result was the £23,850 paid for a Saab 900 SE Turbo which had just 10,741 miles on the clock against its estimate of £10,000 to £12,000. Once again this demonstrates how much people will covet a low mileage original car and especially one that is at the top of its tree in terms of performance model. An interesting sale was a 1970 Ford Capri MK1 3000E which made £26,500 against its estimate of £22,000 to £25,000. This car was actually sold at an ACA sale in 2019 for £22,000 and was bought by a dealer who had had the car up for sale at £26,950 and for some reason was unable to sell it over the past year or more. They then give up and put the car back into ACA where it makes what they have been asking for the last year. This does demonstrate just how powerful an auction setting can be in achieving a strong price. One car which for some reason did nit make its estimate despite being a very nice example was a 1962 Hillman Minx Estate which made £7,830 against its estimate of £8,000 to £10,000. A dealer snapped it up and put it on the market the next day for £10k with a sale being achieved within 24 hours. MGB GT prices have strengthened considerably over the last 12 to 18 months and nice GT cars are achieving anywhere between £10,000 and £15,000 at the moment. A white example that we inspected and thought was okay, but had various paint issues went on to make £10,800 which we felt was quite strong money for a car that was not the best. A rubber bumper car that had just 908n miles from new really was very nice and justified its £16,740 price tag. A 1963 pull handle car went cheap at £11,395 and ended up on a dealer's website the next day at £16k and sold within 24 hours once again. It was interesting to see a Triumph Spitfire fitted with a 2.0 engine blast through its estimate of £7,000 to £9,000 to achieve £13,500. A Triumph TR6 with triple webers which had been converted from left had drive made £14,840 and is now on a dealer's forecourt at £20k. Finally, a mint Vauxhall Cresta PA failed to sell with an estimate of £18,000 to £22,000 but was up with a dealer the following week at over £22k and sold again within a day.
